Shane Rimmer – Voice Actor

Biography

Shane Lance Deacon, known professionally as Shane Rimmer, was born on the 28th of May, 1929, in Toronto, Canada.

He was an actor and screenwriter, best known for his extensive work in British film and television.

He appeared in over 160 films and TV shows from 1957 to 2019, notably providing the voice of Scott Tracy in Gerry Anderson’s “Thunderbirds”, as well as working on four James Bond films: “You Only Live Twice” (1967), “Diamonds Are Forever” (1971), “Live & Let Die” (1973) and “The Spy Who Loved Me” (1977).

His other notable credits include: “Dr. Stangelove” (1964), “Doctor Who” (1966), “Captain Scarlet and The Mysterons” (1967-68), “Joe 90” (1968-69), “UFO” (1970), “S*P*Y*S” (1974), “Space: 1999” (1975-76), “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” (1977), “Superman” (1978). “Superman II” (1980), “Superman III” (1983), “Out of Africa” (1985) and “Batman Begins” (2005).

As a screenwriter, he wrote the teleplay for three episodes of “Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons” and six episodes of “Joe 90”. He also wrote one episode of “The Secret Service”, two episodes of “The Protectors” and the story for “The Investigator” in 1973.

Shane Rimmer passed away on the 29th of March, 2019, aged 89.

Film Role

In "Live & Let Die", Shane Rimmer provided the vocal performance for the character of Hamilton, portrayed by Robert Dix.

Autograph History and Rarity

The small agency photo displayed below was signed by Shane Rimmer for the collection of Steve Oxenrider in January of 1997.

The "Thunderbirds" postcard showing TB-1 pilot Scott Tracy was signed for The Bond Archives in 2003.

Throughout his career Shane Rimmer was an exceptional signer for fans around the world, appearing at conventions on a regular basis.

Did You Know?

Shane Rimmer was required to voice the character of Hamilton due to Robert Dix being unavailable to travel back to England for the recording session.
