Colin Jamison – Hairdresser

Biography

Colin G. Jamison was born on the 18th of August, 1947, in Lewisham, London.

He is a retired hair stylist, best known for working on a number of major film productions.

His career began in the late 1960’s as a hairdressing assistant working on several films including “Maroc 7” (1967) and “Goodbye Mr. Chips” (1969), with his first official screen credit coming in John Boorman’s “Leo the Last” in 1970. This was followed by further credits in “Zeppelin” (1971), “Eagle in a Cage” (1972), “Adolf Hitler: My Part in His Downfall” (1973), “Baxter!” (1973) and “Not Now Darling” (1973).

Colin’s first James Bond experience came in 1971 when he was one of the assistant hairdressers in “Diamonds Are Forever”. This was followed by a a solo screen credit in “Live & Let Die” in 1973 but it would not be until over twenty years later that he would rejoin the franchise. During the remainder of the 1970’s and 1980’s, Jamison was building a reputation as a reliable and talented professional, working predominantly in major film productions as the chief hairstylist and as a supervisor. Some of his most memorable work can be seen in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” (1984), “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” (1988), “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” (1989) and “Batman” (1989). He also led the team in “Alien 3” in 1992.

In 1995, he was hired again by Eon Productions as supervisor for Pierce Brosnan’s first outing as James Bond in “Goldeneye”. He would go on to be Pierce’s stylist in “Tomorrow Never Dies” (1997) and in “The World Is Not Enough” (1999). Colin also became Angelina Jolie’s personal stylist for over 15 years, working with her on a number major Hollywood productions including “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” (2001), “Life or Something Like It” (2002), “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life” (2004), “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” (2005), “Wanted” (2008), “Salt” (2010) and “Maleficent” (2014).

During his extensive career in the industry, Colin achieved a number of awards and accolades, notably being nominated for a BAFTA award in 1997 for his work on “101 Dalmatians”.

Film Role

In "Live & Let Die", Colin Jamison was hired as the leading hairstylist for several leading members of the cast.

Autograph History and Rarity

The composite photo displayed below was signed by Colin for the Oxenrider collection in October of 2011.

Understandably, very few autographs of Colin have been seen.

Did You Know?

Colin's wife, Jan Jamison, was also an accomplished hair stylist in the film industry.

He was on location in Jamaica during the filming of "Live & Let Die".
